The Cost of Grievances

We don’t need to look very far to find worry and concern. I hear from so many of you who are concerned about ICE attacks on our streets that terrorize families and children, wars abroad, and rising gas and food costs here at home. Many also worry that Congress, which is supposed to oversee all of this, turns a blind eye. Couple this with all that is occurring in our personal lives that causes concern: health issues, family challenges, and financial difficulties. There are plenty of reasons to fear, but fear does nothing to help…

A Blanket’s Statement

When our son Jeffrey was a baby, he was given a lovely handmade blanket. For years, it was his favorite blanket. No matter how old or tattered it became, it remained his favorite even when it eventually disintegrated. At that point, what the blanket represented was not its form but the content that he had felt in every encounter with it: love, kindness, safety, comfort, peace, etc.

As we approach the second week of our Lessons in Light, we will focus on…

Series Begins This Week

As lesson 323 in A Course in Miracles says, “I gladly make the ‘sacrifice’ of fear.” If you are ready to release the sacrificing thoughts that yoke you to fear, we can use the traditional time of Lent as a way to do just that. The Course invites us to look with a healed vision, guided by the Holy Spirit, to view the ideas of Christianity in a new light. Not one that separates us from each other, but one that…

You Have Something to Give

“Only what you have not given can be lacking in any situation.” What???? If we are confused, broke, or sick, what can we give? With this quote, A Course in Miracles is challenging us to realign our thinking with the truth. The last thing we think of when we are experiencing a crisis in our lives is that we need to give something, yet it’s exactly what we need…

I, Too, Have a Dream

My family and I visited Atlanta, Georgia, after one of our A Course in Miracles conferences in Florida a few years back. We had never been to the city, and as we toured, we stopped at the birthplace of Martin Luther King, Jr., the church where he was co-pastor (Ebenezer Baptist), and the National Center for Civil and Human Rights. It was a beautiful and healing experience, and I was so grateful to have our son, who was in elementary school at the time, experience this significant part of our history. So, with the recent celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, I was reminded once again of…

It’s Time to Make It Personal

After the shooting death of the mother of three and US citizen Rene Good by an ICE agent in Minnesota last Wednesday, peaceful protests have sprung up all around the country. People have said that they are peacefully protesting as a way to process their feelings of hopelessness and outrage in the face of the ICE attacks on immigrants and US citizens, and the lack of accountability and transparency from our current administration.

After Rene’s shooting, her wife, Rebecca, issued a beautiful and healing statement. It read in part…

Above the Battleground

If you have ever read the section in A Course in Miracles entitled “Above the Battleground,” you quickly realize that the battleground it speaks of is not a place. It is the everyday experiences of our lives in which we see ourselves as separate and at odds with each other. Day by day, we arm ourselves for war, so to speak, with our defenses, grievances, and judgments. We do not see ourselves as one with our brother or…

Try the Miracle-Fix in 2026

As we enter a new year, there is a tendency to bring our “same old” thinking into it, but that need not be the case! Every day is a new opportunity, and the beginning of a new year can often give us the impetus to start again. I know you have heard all this before, and I know it has failed many times, but let’s not be discouraged. This year, let’s try a little different approach; one that will require our faith. We will need to put our trust to the test, because…
