Have you ever heard those commercials that say, “Our representatives are standing by to take your order. Call NOW!” Their intent is to get you to call NOW because that’s how much they want to help you! Well, I’m not sure about that, but I’m certain that God is always there to answer us with His love. All we have to do is step back from the fear, anger, and unworthiness that so often occupy our minds and offer Him our little willingness in a moment of prayer.
“Prayer is the greatest gift with which God blessed His Son at his creation. It was then what it is to become; the single voice Creator and creation share.” (S-1.in.1)
This powerful truth about prayer is from A Course in Miracles’ supplement, The Song of Prayer, which reminds us of our eternal connection to our Source even when we don’t feel it and believe we are lost and alone. The fact is, we could never be disconnected from our Creator. The little willingness to still our minds and focus on the truth and peace that surround us can lift our minds to new insights on how we can be “truly helpful” within this world. That is the simplicity of prayer!
The Center’s Prayer Ministry is a way to demystify prayer. It sets a worldwide prayer joining time of 4:30 p.m. (PT) to give us a connection point, but it also says that anytime you still your mind is a prayer joining time. Remember, God does not know of time or place; He knows YOU. When you focus on the distractions of chaos, He is still there. When you attack each other, He is still there. When you get lost in your fear, doubt, and feelings of unworthiness, He is still there. He is on hold, just awaiting your call to Him. So now is the time to make the connection.
“Prayer is a way offered by the Holy Spirit to reach God.” (S-1.I.1)
Let’s use the chosen connection of prayer to connect with God. The Prayer Ministry of the Center can help in that connection. Each month, it offers you a unique monthly workbook lesson as a focus for joining – much like a mantra. You can find the prayer thoughts for 2025 on MDC’s website, or you can request a bookmark that lists the entire year.
The Center’s thought in the Prayer Ministry for June is workbook lesson 62, “Forgiveness is my function as the light of the world.” This builds on the prayer thought for May, lesson 61, “I am the light of the world.” The power of offering these two lessons in tandem is to build a sense of understanding that forgiveness does not ask you to diminish your self-worth or value by condoning others actions or making one right and another wrong, forgiveness helps you to understand that the only way to experiencing your real power and glory is to focus on the light that connects us all. As lesson 62 says, “Illusions about yourself and the world are one. That is why all forgiveness is a gift to yourself.”
“Forgiveness is the great need of this world, but that is because it is a world of illusions. Those who forgive are thus releasing themselves from illusions, while those who withhold forgiveness are binding themselves to them. As you condemn only yourself, so do you forgive only yourself.” (W-46.1)
As long as we abide in a world of illusions, we need better illusions to lift us to the truth. Forgiveness is a better illusion. We cannot say that this world is just an illusion and ignore its consequences while we participate in it, but we can bring our illusions to the Guide God has given us to sort the false from the true.
“Forgiveness, then, is an illusion, but because of its purpose, which is the Holy Spirit’s, it has one difference. Unlike all other illusions it leads away from error and not towards it.” (C-3.1)
Tonight, in our free livestream, we invite you to join us as we delve into lesson 62, “Forgiveness is my function as the light of the world.” Our lives and this world are experiencing insanity at an alarming rate. We must look clearly at the ego’s chaos and move through it to the truth — the miracle that “stands in shining silence next to every dream of pain and suffering of sin and guilt.” (T-28.II.12)
Forgiveness helps us to do just this. Through forgiveness, we realize our power and insight, while the unforgiving mind is doubtful, confused, afraid, weak, and lost in a world of turmoil and terror. With such a clear choice, is it really that hard? What gives you more? “A tranquil mind is not a little gift.” (M-20.4)
Join us tonight as we take God off hold and enjoy the connection!
